美國職棒大聯盟本土的球季賽即將開打，各隊都將決定開季的25人名單，釀酒人隊官網報導，王維中開季在25人名單的機會很大。

王維中去年在「規則五」選秀中被釀酒人隊挑中，今年獲邀參加大聯盟春訓，熱身賽出賽7場、1場先發，投11局，被擊出11支安打包括1支全壘打，失4分、3分責失，三振6次，可貴的是沒投出保送，防禦率2.45。

釀酒人隊認為王維中是屬於先發型的投手，不過他才21歲，因此若留下王維中，現階段會先讓他待在牛棚；目前釀酒人隊的牛棚還有3個空缺， 王維中與Zach Duke、Tyler Thornburg、Rob Wooten在爭取，是四搶三的局面，釀酒人隊報導從各種跡象來看，釀酒人隊似乎愈來愈有可能留下王維中，而不是將他送回海盜隊。

如果釀酒人隊最後決定留下王維中，加上金鶯隊的陳偉殷，本季開季將有2名台灣投手在大聯盟奮戰。
