遇襲受傷的明報前總編輯劉進圖表示，暴力襲擊是想令大家畏懼，但如果畏懼，便會失去自由，希望所有新聞工作者不要畏懼，盡本份用筆寫出真理。

新聞界反暴力聯席在遊行前播出劉進圖的錄音聲帶，劉進圖向參與反暴力遊行的市民說，不能假設自由是存在和不變。
