ax + by + 1 = 0

當 y = 0, x = -1/a : 直線與 x 軸相交於 (-1/a, 0)。
由於圖形不經過第三象限，-1/a > 0。
因此，a < 0

當 x = 0, y = -1/b : 直線與 y 軸相交於 (0, -1/b)。
由於圖形不經過第三象限，-1/b > 0。
因此，b < 0

由於 a < 0 及 b < 0，故此 (a, b) 在第三象限。

L : y = ax + b， 斜率 = a
M : y = (3/4)x + (25/4)， 斜率 = (3/4)

由於 L 與 M 沒有交點，故此斜率相等。
a = 3/4

L : y = (3/4)x + b 通過 (6, 5)， 代入得：
5 = (3/4)(6) + b
b = 1/2
