Samsung, HTC, Sony Mobile likely to launch mini flagship models

Samsung Electronics, HTC and Sony Mobile Communications are expected to launch mini versions of their latest flagship smartphones starting at the end of the second quarter of 2014, according to sources at Taiwan's handset supply chain.
Based on the roadmaps of individual vendors, there will come the Galaxy S5 mini from Samsung, the HTC One (M8) mini from HTC and the Xperia Z2 Compact from Sony Mobile, the sources noted.
Vendors are also expected to adjust their price strategies for the mini flagship models launched in 2014 as sales of mini flagship models released in 2013 have been lower than expected due to improper pricing, commented the sources.
Additionally, some vendors are also likely to introduce ultra- or max-versions of their latest flagship models featuring large-size displays as a means to prolong the product life cycles of respective models, added the sources.
