法務部次長陳明堂今在立院表示，陳水扁能否保外就醫，不應給予「額外的壓力」。宣布本月28日下午絕食救扁的前副總統呂秀蓮今晚「不以為然」，她表示，根據監獄行刑法第五十八條，法務部老早就該核准阿扁保外就醫，如今卻怠忽職守，以致讓他百病纏身、身心俱殘，法務部可能對其他罹病受刑人更加怠慢失職。

呂秀蓮也表示，後天下午她將拜會監察院長張博雅，請求監察院全面調查全國各監獄及看守所，檢視有多少罹病受刑人未受合理照顧或阻延其保外就醫。
